Will and I started our little family on August 23, 2011. We don't have any children and are not planning on having any for a while, so right now there are just three of us: Myself, my husband Will, and our dog Payton.

Payton joined our family on September 17, 2011. Will and I both desperately wanted a dog. After deciding on a boxer we started looking for breeders that we felt were responsible and legitimate. We knew it was worth it to us to pay a little extra to purchase our dog from a breeder whose first priority was the quality and well-being of their dogs versus a "backyard breeder" who was simply trying to make money. During our search we came across an ad online for a 6 month old boxer that someone was trying to get rid of. The person was from the general area and we decided to call about the dog and see what we could find out.
The lady told us that the dog was purchase for her 16 year old daughter; however, her daughter quickly lost interest in caring for the dog, and now they were trying to find a new home for it. We decided to go see the dog to determine whether we were interested or not.
The boxer puppy was kept tied up on a 4 ft. rope in the field with about thirty full grown goats. They called her Roxy, but she didn't even remotely answer to it. She was very friendly and excited to see us. She just wanted to be petted and loved. They lady hadn't fed her anything that day, and there wasn't any source of water in sight. The goats would sometimes come up to her and head butt her. Her eyes were blood red from the constant irritation of the dust she couldn't get away from. There were scars visible on her snout and legs. It was very clear to us that this puppy was not only being abused by the goats, but it was being neglected by the owners. She wasn't exactly what we were looking for, but at that point we could leave her behind without feeling an immense amount of guilt. We handed over some cash and took our new baby home to live happily ever after.
On October 12, 2011 Kylie came home to live with us. Payton was instantly thrilled to have her. Kylie took a little bit longer to warm up to her welcoming party. They are already great friends, however. It has been wonderful having both of them as part of our family.
